Data centres are under increasing pressure to deliver greater processing power, more storage and greater reliability. However, UK enterprises are now facing new challenges, with the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) legislation. From April 2010, enterprises and data centres alike will be required to report on energy consumption, and failure to do so could result in criminal penalties. However, Information Age has recently reported that a mere 40%* of IT leaders actually monitor their data centre’s energy use.
