The cornerstone that underpins Information Age’s research is the continual programme of surveys that the editorial team conducts at its web site, www.information-age.com. The Information Age audience has proved consistently receptive to participation in all of the magazine’s off -the-page initiatives.

The success of the survey series for all involved - readers, editors and sponsors - is testament to this. Surveys are conducted every month. Audience participation is actively encouraged: A link and short descriptor about the current survey occupies a prominent position on the home page of www.information-age.com, the online HQ for Information Age. The magazine promotes the latest survey with a brief outline and link The weekly Information Age Bulletin, distributed to c14,000 recipients, promotes the survey. Direct email requests are sent to individuals that we know have an interest in the area being researched.

These overlapping activities maximise reach and deliver optimum response. The past 15 surveys have delivered on average over 300 completions. More specifically, The Effective IT 2006 Survey (October 2005) had 917 participants - a record - providing the foundations for Information Age’s authoritative annual review of strategic trends,The Effective IT Report.

Research Sponsors benefit in a number of ways:

  • Research data. Sponsors partner with the Information Age team to create the survey. Our journalists write the questions, the sponsor tweaks them, and then the survey goes live. The resulting feedback is therefore valuable to the sponsors, editorial team and readers. Raw data is available upon request.
  • Brand awareness. The sponsor’s name is attached to all survey communications: in the magazine, at the web site and on email messages. There is coverage of the results in Information Age.
  • Sales leads. The details of each participant are delivered to the sponsor: name, job title and contact data (in compliance with current Data Protection regulations). This data can be used to generate sales or to develop business partnerships. The sponsor chooses and presents to the winner the prize incentive.

Exposure. Information Age editors will incorporate the results into a future article. Sponsors have their company linked to the survey results.
